چکیده

The ability of a watershed model to mimic specified watershed processes is assessed through the calibration and validation process. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) watershed model was implemented in the Beaver Reservoir Watershed of Northwest Arkansas. The objectives were to: (1) provide detailed information on calibrating and applying a multisite and multivariable SWAT model; (2) conduct sensitivity analysis; and (3) perform calibration and validation at three different sites for flow, sediment, total phosphorus (TP), and nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) plus nitritenitrogen (NO2-N). Relative sensitivity analysis was conducted to identify parameters that most influenced predicted flow, sediment, and nutrient model outputs. A multiobjective function was defined that consisted of optimizing three statistics: percent relative error (RE), Nash-Sutcliffe Coefficient (RNS), and coefficient of determination (R2). This function was used to successfully calibrate and validate a SWAT model of Beaver Reservoir Watershed at multisites while considering multivariables. Calibration and validation of the model is a key factor in reducing uncertainty and increasing user confidence in its predictive abilities, which makes the application of the model effective. Information on calibration and validation of multisite, multivariable SWAT models has been provided to assist watershed modelers in developing their models to achieve watershed management goals. Recently, a manuscript was published with the objective to complete a multivariable and multisite calibration and validation for the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model on the Motueka River basin by Cao et al. (2006). Physically based distributed parameter models, such as SWAT, have become a preferred tool to predict watershed response not only at the watershed outlet, but also at inter...

Using SWAT and SWAT-CUP for hydrological simulation and uncertainty analysis in arid and semi-arid watersheds (Case study: Zoshk Watershed, Shandiz, Iran)

The aims of this project was to assess the capability of SWAT model and SWAT-CUP software in hydrological simulation and to evaluate the uncertainty of SWAT model in estimating runoff in arid and semi-arid watersheds. Model calibration and uncertainty analysis were performed using the Sequential Uncertainty Fitting (SUFI2) algorithm. In the stage of calibration and validation of water flow, per...

Simulation of Hydrological Balance in Eskandari Watershed Using SWAT Model and algorithms SUFI2

In order to manage watersheds, especially in mountainous areas that are not adequately station  hydrological phenomena simulation is important. In this study, the SWAT model used to simulate hydrologic basin Eskandari. Calibration and validation of models for the periods 2006-1992 and 2009-2015, respectively, using the algorithm SUFI2 in software SWAT CUP was done. To evaluate the simulation re...

One of the most essential and appropriate groundwater model components is accurate information of the recharge values among input data often introduced to the model as the percentage of rainfall of aquifers. The recharge values are influenced by many temporal and spatial factors. Firoozabad plain is one of the suitable plains for agriculture in the Fars province in which utilization of groundwa...

Performance of SWAT Model in Quantitative and Qualitative Simulation of Runoff and Watershed Protective Measures in Zarrinehrood Basin

This study aims to simulate runoff and runoff quality of Zarrineh river basin by SWAT model. Calibration and verification were done respectively with monthly runoff statistics in SWAT CUP by SUFI2 method for 1992-2013, for 12 sub basin, 226 HRU and monthly nitrate data for 2006-2009. The highest runoff sensitivity and runoff quality with minimum Pvalue and maximum absolute value Ttest belong to...
